ROSS TWP. — Six people were transported to area hospitals, one by medical helicopter, after a two-vehicle crash Monday, Sept. 6, in front of Ross High School.

Three adults and three juveniles were involved in the crash that occurred at 6:21 p.m. at 3601 Hamilton Cleves Road, said Officer Mike Broughton, of the Ross Twp. Police Department.

A woman driving a green Chevy Blazer was trying to enter the school’s lot and turned into the path of a white Toyota RAV 4, Broughton said. The woman, who had a 9-year-old passenger in the vehicle with her, told police she did not see the other car coming.

The woman was cited for failure to yield to the right of way, police said.

“It was a pretty severe accident,” Broughton said.

Officers said they would not release the names of those involved in the crash without the approval of Ross Twp. police Chief Ben Kramer. Kramer could not be reached for comment Monday night.

The most serious injury was to an adult male passenger of the Toyota who complained of chest pains and face lacerations, Broughton said. He was flown to University of Cincinnati Hospital.

Others involved in the crash, including the female driver of the Toyota and her two juvenile passengers, were taken to Mercy Fairfield and Children’s Hospital as a safety precaution, police said.

Ben Davis, a 16-year-old student at Ross High School, was at football practice Monday evening and heard the impact and screeching tires from behind the school.

“It caught everyone’s attention,” Davis said.

Police cleared the accident scene in about an hour.
